Carton Of Cruelty: Behind Big Dairy's Closed Doors

Carton Of Cruelty: Behind Big Dairy's Closed Doors

In a heartbreaking new undercover video, Compassion Over Killing reveals violent abuse of gentle mother cows at Mason Dixon Farms, a massive dairy factory farm in Pennsylvania with more than 2,500 animals.

Mason Dixon supplies some of the biggest names in dairy, including Dairy Farmers of America and Land O’Lakes.

One of the largest dairy facilities on the East Coast, Mason Dixon was the first in the US to implement milking of cows by machines, known as “robo-milking.” Approximately half of the 2,500 cows on this factory farm are now “robo-milked.”

Though Mason Dixon touts itself as a leading example in the dairy industry, the footage taken by COK’s investigator who worked inside the facility uncovers a different reality

Where Do Eggs Come From?

Where Do Eggs Come From?

When you open an egg carton, what do you see? This video will change it all.

Chickens don't need to be killed for their eggs, right? Not so fast. Only female chickens can produce eggs. So what happens to all the male chicks who are hatched in egg factories? They can't be raised profitably for meat because they haven't been genetically engineered to grow fast enough. (Chickens raised for meat are engineered to grow so large so fast that their legs often break beneath them.) So each year, hundreds of millions of male chicks are shoved into plastic bags and left to suffocate, are gassed to death, or are ground up alive.

Conditions at egg factory farms are atrocious. Cage floors are made of wire mesh, so urine and feces fall from the upper tiers onto the chickens below. A single cage, roughly 16 inches by 18 inches, holds five or six hens, each with a wingspan of 32 inches, so they can barely move. Hens bred to be "super layers" experience so much stress that they live only a few years before their bodies wear out and they're sent to slaughter.

This video shares some shocking facts about the negative impact the meat industry is having on peoples health, the environment and our planet.
